Hand Up 4 Our Heroes

Helping Those Who Serve by Giving a Hand Up

Vest Up 4 The Fallen (Give 2 Those, Inc.) has recently refined its program guidelines to ensure responsible stewardship of donor funds and long-term sustainability of our mission. As a result, our Hands Up 4 Our Heroes now provides more targeted direct assistance, focusing on urgent, mission-aligned needs where we can make the greatest impact.

Updated Financial Assistance Guidelines

Direct monetary support is now limited to specific qualifying needs. Give 2 Those, Inc. does not provide funding for the following expenses:

  • Medical bills

  • Rent or mortgage payments

  • Personal or vehicle loans

  • Car payments

  • Credit card balances

  • Child support, tax liabilities, or legal fees

  • Home improvement projects

  • Cable or internet services

  • Elective medical procedures

These changes allow us to responsibly allocate funds, avoid overextension, and continue serving military members, veterans, first responders, and Gold Star families through meaningful, sustainable assistance.

Once yearly funding for the Hands Up 4 Our Heroes / Valor Vital Needs program is fully allocated, we are unable to overcommit or redirect resources from other essential programs. This approach ensures organizational stability while allowing us to continue honoring those who serve, save, protect, and sacrifice through additional initiatives.

Though our direct financial assistance is now more focused, Vest Up 4 The Fallen remains deeply committed to providing support, dignity, and relief to our nation’s heroes and their families.

The list of assistance provided continues beyond what is shown, reflecting the depth and reach of our mission. Through donor generosity and community partnerships, Give 2 Those, Inc. has:

  • Shipped over 350 pounds of goods to deployed military members

  • Provided emergency financial assistance to military members, veterans, first responders, and Gold Star families nationwide

  • Delivered care packages, comfort baskets, gift cards, essential items, and holiday support to families facing hardship

  • Honored fallen heroes and supported surviving families through memorial initiatives

  • Awarded 18 academic scholarships to high school students (2023–2025

  • Emergency assistance for families impacted by house fires, sudden tragedies, and medical hardships

  • Support for deployed troops, National Guard units, and military families during the holidays

  • Care packages for homeless veterans and deployed service members

  • Support for service dogs for veterans

  • Memorial items and remembrance initiatives for Gold Star families

  • Assistance to WWII, Vietnam, Korean War, Gulf War, OIF/OEF, and Afghanistan veterans

  • Ongoing outreach to first responders wounded in the line of duty

Our Promise:

  • Vest Up 4 The Fallen and Give 2 Those, Inc. remain steadfast in our promise to stand in the gap when others cannot, offering immediate, compassionate, and dignified support to those who have sacrificed for our country and communities.

Honor. Service. Commitment. Impact.

Testimony Story: From Marine Veteran Tom

As a recent recipient, I want to express how truly grateful and thankful I am to Heather and Give2Those. I started the year out without water: well pump went right before Christmas and I was having problems with the new one .. April hot water heater goes and a week later pressure tank for well pump goes (insert Big scream - because I just got even in May from the well pump). The mortgage co didn’t care the program they have is a joke .. defer mortgage payments for 3 or 6 months, but on month 4 or 7 You Have to have all 4 or 7 payments.....Yeah Right on disability.I tried getting ahold of VA rep in town with no luck , not unusual.. just frustrating because they don’t seem to know how to return calls , again not unusual (the VA Doctors don’t either). So I took it upon myself to make my own program and use my mortgage payments Towards Needed things , pressure tank , hot water heater and installation $$. So I’d be behind and play catch up, nothing new, just old and tiresome. In comes Joe with a phone call what’s going on and everything, after telling him what’s been going on and what I had to do and everything he tells me he knows exactly who to contact and he’ll make a call. While I knew about Give2Those my thinking from having frontal lobe damage has slowed down, I didn’t even think about contacting them even just to see if they could point me in the right direction..

Thank you again for everything. I’m caught up and ahead, able to relax and breathe. To Joe , Heather , Give2Those and everyone Thank you,  Semper Fidelis

***** Please Note this is one of Vest Up 4 The Fallen programs and we do our best to help those in need of support that falls under Hands Up 4 Our Heroes. Vest Up 4 The fallen allocates funds to each of their programs based on the demands and needs. Our team works hard through events, and spreading the word for our mission to get participants to events, donations in and sponsorships but due to demand we are not always able to accommodate everyones request once we have expended all of our available funds/resources within the year and Vest Up 4 The Fallen does not pull funds from other programs.
